pimmit run 6-mile hike

Unseasonably warm weather and late winter/early spring scenery made a wonderful setting for a 6-mile hike along Pimmit Run. The outing provided the Scouts with the opportunity to practice basic hiking skills—such as map and compass, safely crossing streams and busy streets, and staying together as a group—and to identify signs of wild animals.

By the time that we reached the two-mile mark, the Scouts had already observed indications of over 10 wild animals—including deer, beavers, cardinals, crows, wrens, fish, and our friend, the gnat.

Special thanks go to Ben and Tim for teaching map and compass skills! Other Scouts who went on this voyage were Brendan, Connor, Ethan, Keenan, Luke, Mateo, Matthias, and Noah. The Scouters in attendance were Allen, David, Debbie, John, Matt, Natalie, Rose Ann, and Steven.
